Святые Кирилл и Мефодий, братья из города Солуни - реформаторы славянской азбуки и создатели церковнославянского языка, происходили из византийского города Фессалоники.

They were Greek Christian missionaries from among the Slavic peoples, credited with devising the Glagolitic alphabet, the first Slavic alphabet needed to translate the Bible into Old Church Slavonic, the process they started in 863. After Cyril's death in 869, and Methodius' in 885, their pupils continued their missionary work among other Slavs and the translation.


В 1564 году основатель типографского дела в России «первопечатник» Иван Фёдоров издаёт книгу «Апостол», в которую вошли Писания Нового Завета: Деяния Апостолов и их Послания. Эта книга на церковно-славянском языке была первой напечатанной в России.
А в 1581 году впервые была напечатана полная церковно-славянская Библия (Guttenberg printed his complete Bible in 1450s)

По указу императрицы Елизаветы в 1751 году (King James Bible was 1604-1611) была издана тщательно исправленная церковнославянская Библия, так называемая "Елизаветинская", текст которой был сверен с древним греческим переводом. Она до сих пор используется как авторизованный для богослужения текст в русском православии.

Etak Navigator, which cost $1,500 in 1985, does not use satellites, instead, it uses "dead reckoning", with a compass affixed in the rear of the car, magnetic beads inside the rim of the wheels for speed, a central-processing unit about the size of a large loaf of bread [1], a series of cassette tapes that contain the digitized maps, and a choice of two green vector monitors, one large and one small.

For the LA, for example, 4 tapes were required. When an edge of the map was reached, the driver needed to change cassette tapes.

Catnip (Nepeta cataria) is a recreational substance for cats.
Catnip (Nepeta cataria) is a recreational substance for cats. Active ingredient is Nepetalactone. which may mimic the hypothetical feline facial pheromone, but this has not been tested.

While catnip serves no real purpose other than allowing an owner to watch his or her cat go bonkers, there is no evidence that causes harms to cats either.


Smoking catnip became popular in the 1960s. When the herb is smoked, it produces a low level, legal high complete with audio/visual hallucinations and a relaxed feeling. Concentrated doses of Nepeta cataria brewed as a tea can also produce a mild, short-term sedative effect in humans.
