Heather family (Ericaceae) "семейство Вересковые" is large family, with roughly 4000 species spread across 126 genera,  including the cranberry (клюква), blueberry (черника), bilberry (голубика), lingonberry (брусника), ledum (багульник), huckleberry, azalea, rhododendron.

Snow plant (Sarcodes sanguinea) "Саркодес кроваво красный" is a springtime flowering plant in the heath family (семейство вересковые [1]). It is a parasitic plant, unable to photosynthesize nutrients itself, that derives sustenance and nutrients from mycorrhizal fungi that attach to roots of trees.

Sarcodes sanguinea is native to western North America from Oregon through the mountains of California into Baja California. Its name derives from the striking bright scarlet red flower that emerges from the sometimes still snow-covered ground in early spring; this may be as late as mid-May in high elevations, such as those of the High Sierra Nevada.

This explains a lot.

For example "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" (2). But "those who could remember the past, but don't possess cognitive power to predict the future, are also condemned to repeat it", so they don't waste limited mental resources on remembering the past.

Or false memory isn't. It is the stored knowledge.
