BGH-free milk and meet is all the rage in California. BGH is a peptide Bovine growth hormone.

Peptides and proteins don't pass through human digestive system into the blood. That would be insane. Instead they are broken into the constituent aminoacids, which are then absorbed [1]. That's the reason one has to inject another peptide hormone - insulin. Can't eat it [2].

If you were to shoot up or snort beef or milk, that still wouldn't work, assuming the reader of this is not a cow. Humans do not respond to BGH,

If you are a cow, BGH will clearly increase your milk production, which is why it is used, and if you are a bull, it may or may not increase your athletic performance.

BGH is prohibited in EU, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and allowed in USA and 21 other countries. However, if you attempt to sell raw milk, federal SWAT will get ya:

[1] Very young babies, whose digestive system is undeveloped, may let some of that through, from the mother's milk. Also, it appears that prions can get absorbed intact.

[2] Not all hormones are proteins/peptides. For example,  estrogens and progestogens ("The Pill", which you can eat) are steroids, and so is testosterone and androgen.
